Art Survival Kits
These Art Sets are what I call "Art Survival Kits." My students understand they are responsible for the maintenance and inventory of the items inside and provided is a Laminated Mini Checklist for students to ensure their kit is complete and ready for the next class.
Example:
Pencil point broke? You have a Sharpener...
Or maybe your pencil no longer has a usable eraser? You can choose either Pink or White...
Maybe you simply FORGOT your pencil at home?!
You can now SURVIVE Ms. Castillo's Art Class.

Kit include:
3 Regular Pencils
16 Colored Pencils
2 Sharpeners
2 Pink Erasers
2 White Erasers
2 Regular Crayon Boxes
1 Multicultural Crayon Box
This instills a sense of responsibility, accountability and participation as a class, group and academic art community. Plus, the kids LOVE having something they can call their own.

Pop Art, Thiebaud Cupcakes - Soft Pastels Value Study
Wayne
Thiebaud “Cupcakes”
2nd Grade Soft Pastels / Colored Chalk
Students learned about Artist Wayne Thiebaud and the variety
of popular “sweets” he painted including cake slices, milk shakes and
everyone’s favorite… Cupcakes! After identifying
the basic shapes that make up a cupcake, students created vertical, horizontal,
diagonal and curved lines to outline its parts and fill them with color. Value
was then added by using both white and black chalk to highlight and darken
certain areas; creating an awareness of light, space, and depth in the artwork.

“Artistic License” to create the silhouettes of the trees and creatures lurking
about. Look closely…. How many animals can you find hiding in all of these
